Miller to council: end this scandal

I just saw Emily Harman’s report on something which appears to be utterly inhuman. I do hope this isn’t the whole truth.

Our council simply pays lip-service to housing needs in the borough. Both of the established parties have been very weak on the issue. Given the long-weathered clamor in Tory circles for radical cuts now and forever, we can expect a lot more of this kind of barbarity nationally and locally if we end up with them in government.

How can our council allow things like this to take place? Could some of the money spent on buying a shopping centre instead be spent on providing decent houses for those who need them? In the meantime, we are left with a situation where pregnant women are left in tents somewhere at the back of the housing list, which, regardless of money, is an incompetence in itself.

They say they are not able to comment on individual instances. It seems to me that Miss Maskell is quite happy with being publicly identified. So why won’t they make a comment?

Woking Borough Council - the time has come to take responsibility. Explain yourselves, and end this scandal.
