A quick message from National Policy Forum rep Martin Phillips:
Dear friend,
I just want to pass on a brief message to you about a new scheme I am supporting here in Surrey. I hope you don’t mind. If you do, please blame me rather than Surrey Save!
SurreySave is a new credit union for Surrey. I hope you can pledge your support the way I have. There’s no commitment for you beyond pledging your support, but it will help us get the word out and get the credit union up and running.
SurreySave is for everyone who lives or works in Surrey, whether it is someone who can’t get a High Street bank account and uses loan sharks (yes they do exist in Surrey), or someone looking for a local place to save. The credit union will offer competitive financial services, FSA regulated and 100% backed by the government’s Financial Services Compensation Sheme.
SurreySave is a co-operative financial institution, owned and controlled by its members. It will provide services to local people in Surrey on an ethical basis – we will help people to save money and reduce their debts. It will be run like a bank but all profits are returned to the members and there are no director bonuses.
I think this is a great initiative and I have pledged my support because I want to see SurreySave be a big success. I hope you will pledge your support too. This doesn’t mean you are committing yourself to anything else – you don’t have to do anything or commit to save with us. You are just saying it is a good idea. After you pledge we will keep you informed of progress.
So please pledge by going to http://www.surreysave.co.uk/join%20us.html . You can also read much more about SurreySave.
Please pass this message onto anyone living or working in Surrey you think would join you in signing a pledge. This way SurreySave will gain as much support as possible. If you have already pledged you do not need to pledge again. If you have received this message before, my apologies.
